How to get to TOKYO Haneda Airport early in the morning (Can you make it on the first train? Hotel? Bus? Introducing various options)

Early morning flights at Haneda Airport include flights starting at 6 o'clock, so in order to board an early morning flight, you must arrive at the airport that much earlier. It is possible that the first flight from your area or accommodation to Haneda Airport will not make it in time. So, what are the early morning transportation options to Haneda Airport?

In this article, we will introduce transportation methods for arriving at Haneda Airport early in the morning.

The first conclusion I came up with was as follows.

Method Airport arrival time Amount of money
tokyo monorail First train arrived at 5:17 500 yen (from Hamamatsucho)
Keikyu Airport Line First train arrived at 5:29 300 yen (from Shinagawa station)
Early morning bus (suspended) Arrive at 4 o'clock 1,100 yen - 2,200 yen
taxi free time Around 10,000 yen
Hotel (inside the airport) Directly connected to the airport From 7,000 yen
Hotel (around the airport) From 4pm by shuttle bus From 5000 yen

What time do early morning flights depart from Haneda Airport?

The first flight departing from Haneda Airport is from 6am.

Main first flight times (example of domestic flights)

To Itami Airport...departs at 6:20

To New Chitose Airport...departs at 6:15

To Fukuoka Airport...departs at 6:25

To Naha Airport...departs at 6:15

New Chitose Airport flight and Naha flight depart at 6:15. It's quite early.

Considering that I have to pass through the security checkpoint 20 minutes early at 5:55 to board this flight, I would like to arrive at Haneda Airport around 5:45.

When determining your arrival time at the airport, you must take into account boarding procedures such as check-in and security checkpoint deadlines. In any case, in order to board an early morning flight, you must arrive at Haneda Airport around 5 o'clock.

Please note that the domestic terminal is closed from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. The international terminal is open 24 hours.

Now, let's take a look at each mode of transportation.

tokyo monorail

Let's start with the Tokyo Monorail, one of the most popular means of transportation. The first train of the Tokyo Monorail departed from Hamamatsucho Station at 4:59. If you board this train, you will arrive at the final stop, Haneda Airport Terminal 2, at 5:17.

Can I board the first train at Hamamatsucho Station from each station?

  • You can board the first train leaving Tokyo Station at 4:41am.
  • You can board the first train leaving Ueno Station at 4:33.
  • You can board the first train leaving Shinagawa Station at 4:32.
  • Unable to board from Shinjuku Station (first train arrives at Haneda Airport T2 at 5:44)
  • Unable to board from Shibuya Station (first train arrives at Haneda Airport T2 at 5:44)

The starting station for the Tokyo Monorail is Hamamatsucho Station. You cannot board the first train from Shinjuku Station or Shibuya Station, which takes a long time to get to Hamamatsucho Station. On the other hand, you can board the first train of the Tokyo Monorail from places such as Tokyo Station, which are just a few stations away from Hamamatsucho.

Keikyu Airport Line

Along with the Tokyo Monorail, the Keikyu Airport Line is a popular means of transportation. The first train on the Keikyu Airport Line departed from Shinagawa Station at 5:09am. If you board this train, you will arrive at the final stop, Haneda Airport Terminal 1 and 2 Station, at 5:29. It starts 10 minutes later than the Tokyo Monorail and arrives 12 minutes later.

In other words, Keikyu is no longer an option from Tokyo Station, Ueno Station, Shinagawa Station, etc., where you can board the first train of the Tokyo Monorail.

Can I board the first train at Shinagawa Station from each station?

  • You can board the first train departing Shinjuku Station at 4:43am.
  • You can board the first train leaving Shibuya Station at 4:49.

The train departs from Yokohama Station at 5:02, and by changing trains at Keikyu Kamata Station, you can board the first train departing from Shinagawa. As above, you can arrive at Haneda Airport at 5:29.

We recommend carpooling "nearMe."

"nearMe." is a service that allows you to travel between your home and the airport in a shared vehicle that seats 9 people. You can move door to door. This is especially useful when you have a lot of luggage and find it difficult to travel by public transportation. Another advantage is that it runs early in the morning. ( Click here for explanatory article )

Early morning bus (Currently suspended)

The fastest way to get to Haneda Airport is by taking the early morning bus. You can arrive at Haneda Airport around 4 o'clock. There are many departure points, with trains running from all major stations in Tokyo as well as from Yokohama and Kawasaki.

However, since the domestic terminal opens from 5 o'clock, you will arrive at the international terminal, which is open 24 hours a day. There is a free shuttle bus, so head there when the domestic terminal opens.

Now, we will introduce the departure and arrival locations where the buses operate and their fares.

Please note that service has been suspended due to decreased demand due to the new coronavirus. Please contact the bus company for the latest information.

Private car or taxi

The most time-saving means of transportation is a private car or taxi. You can leave your home at any time you like and head to Haneda Airport at the time you want to arrive.

This is a valid option if you have small children or large luggage.

However, if you use a taxi, it will be expensive. Fixed fares are available to Haneda Airport, so you can check how much it will cost in advance.

Haneda Airport fixed fare (example)

When using a taxi, use a pre-booked pick-up taxi rather than a waiting taxi.

Stay at a hotel in or near Haneda Airport

If you stay at a hotel near Haneda Airport, you will have plenty of time to move around until close to departure time. When traveling by train, bus, or taxi, you have to cut down on your sleep time to compensate for the travel time, and you end up using up extra physical energy before your trip or business trip. In that sense, staying at a hotel has benefits that go beyond the price.

You can also take advantage of taxis at cheaper prices at hotels near Kamata Station or Tenkubashi Station, which are a little far from the airport. You can move it for around 1000 yen to 3000 yen.

As a hotel-specific service, some hotels may provide a free shuttle bus to the airport.

Hotels within the airport

a name of a hotel place Amount (single) Features
Royal Park The Haneda T3 From 14,000 yen premium hotel
Haneda Excel Hotel Tokyu T2 From 15,000 yen Some rooms have a view of the runway

Hotel Mystays Haneda Haneda From 13,000 yen First train leaves at 4 o'clock
Chisun Hotel Kamata Nishi Kamata From 5,000 yen Keikyu Bus Kamata Station first bus departs at 5:10

Arrive at Haneda Airport late at night and stay until morning

Although it may be a more forced method, you can also take a train near the last train of the previous day to Haneda Airport and stay there until the morning. This may be suitable for people who want to save money without spending a lot of money, or those who are worried about oversleeping.

However, the domestic terminal will be closed, so go to the international terminal.
